CCR Error Corrected + EUR 3,500 Compensation

Banking· Resolved in 8 months

Discovered my written-off debt was still showing as Active on the CCR — 3 years after the bank's own internal records showed it was written off. Filed a SAR, sent a formal complaint, then went to the FSPO. Got the entry corrected and EUR 3,500 compensation for the mortgage application that was refused because of it.

Their advice: The SAR was the key. Their internal system showed 'Written Off' while the CCR showed 'Active'. That contradiction made the FSPO case straightforward.

Insurance Claim Rejection Overturned

Insurance· Resolved in 11 months

Home insurance claim rejected for 'lack of maintenance' after storm damage. Got my own structural engineer's report that contradicted theirs. Filed with FSPO — they overturned the rejection and I got the full claim plus EUR 2,000 compensation for the delay.

Their advice: Always get your own independent assessment. The insurer's adjuster works for them, not you.

Debt Collector Forced to Stop + CCR Cleaned

Debt Collection· Resolved in 4 months

Debt collector was pursuing a debt from 2016 — clearly statute-barred. They were calling my workplace and texting daily. Sent a cease and desist letter, filed with the FSPO, and filed a DPC complaint for the harassment. They backed off, wrote off the debt, and corrected the CCR.

Their advice: Document everything. I kept a log of every call, every text, every letter. The FSPO took the harassment very seriously.

Revolut Account Unfrozen + EUR 1,500

Fintech· Resolved in 5 months

Revolut froze my account for 6 weeks with no explanation. EUR 4,000 stuck. Sent a SAR — discovered the freeze was triggered by an algorithm flagging a normal salary payment. Filed complaints with Revolut and then the FSPO. Got my account back plus EUR 1,500.

Their advice: The GDPR SAR was crucial — it revealed the automated decision-making that caused the freeze. Article 22 gives you the right to challenge automated decisions.

HP Voluntary Termination Accepted

Car Finance· Resolved in 3 months

Finance company refused my voluntary termination request even though I'd paid over 50%. They claimed I owed excess mileage charges that weren't in the original HP agreement. Cited Section 63 of the Consumer Credit Act 1995, filed a formal complaint, and they accepted the termination.

Their advice: Read your HP agreement carefully. If the excess charges aren't specifically stated in the original agreement, they can't apply them retroactively.

Bank Account Closure Reversed

Banking· Resolved in 6 months

Bank tried to close my account of 12 years citing 'risk review'. No explanation, 30 days notice. Sent a formal complaint demanding specific reasons under the Consumer Protection Code. They couldn't provide any beyond 'internal policy'. Filed with FSPO — they directed the bank to reinstate the account.

Their advice: Banks have to give you reasons. 'Internal policy' isn't a reason. Push back on vague explanations.

They count on you giving up. Don't.
